Friday 8th October 2010 6:30am -  Arrived at work. 8:00am – All phones charged and temperature probe activated. 9:00am – Decision made to launch today, weather fair. 10:10am – ATC notified of intent to launch. 11:00am – Launch Attempt 1 failed. 11:05am – Backup balloon added to primary balloon. 11:10am – Successful launch. 11:15am – Contact lost with balloon. 1:30pm – Secondary balloon bursts. 3:00pm – Contact with balloon re-establish – location norwich, height 4000m. 4:00pm - P.

 After launching the probe at 11:10am we lost contact from the probe at 11:15am, just five minutes after launch, and only 100 yards from the launch site. Alot of “What Ifs” were tossed around the room… have the lithium batteries overloaded the GPS phone? has the GPS phone gone to sleep? has the balloon crash landed already? A quick drive to the last know position disprove the later. Going by the prediction from the CSUF website the flight time of the capsule should have been roughly 2 hours, so we waited for that time to come.

Friday 8th October 2010 - Ipswich, Suffolk. 6:30am I arrived at work bright and early to start preparing for the day ahead. I layed out all the items on my desk and started to check each one was ready for use. 9:00am We made the decision to launch HAPEN One, between 10am and 11am. The local ATC was informed of our intent to launch and wished us the best of luck. So last minute preparations were now underway, this included attaching the parachute and radar reflector to the capsule and running some last minute tests on the Burst and Landing pr.

It was an evening in mid 2009 and I was settling down for the evening to watch some telly.
